I love how well-made each item is. I get complements every time I wear or carry an item from Terosoros Maya.
I especially love that Angelica is ethically sourcing each item. I have great respect for that.
I’ve order many items from this shop, and have been thrilled with each beautiful handmade textile. The Huipils and woven blouses add a unique look to my outfits. I get many compliments each time I wear them. I’ve also purchased earrings, beach bag, Hat band, Pillows and Cortes. Yes I’m addicted to the beautiful textiles from Guatemala. This has become one of my favorite shops for gifts. I’ve also come to realize the positive impact my purchases have made on the women artisans who have spent many hours weaving these unique textiles. All items have been beautifully wrapped and received very quickly.
Beautiful textile made from natural cotton. A true artist made this Huipil, and I’m proud to wear it. I gotten compliments when I wore it for the first time. Even my husband said it was unique and looked good.
As you can see by the photos I own A LOT of amazing purses and textiles from Tesoros Maya. I have even had the wonderful experience of traveling with Angelica to Guatemala. It was a life changing trip for me. I am and always will be connected to Guatemala❤️
I bought the most beautiful mask at Tesoros Maya's booth at a craft show in Wimberley, TX. I met the owner who was very kind, professional and personable - she even emailed me after our meeting. We don't have to wear masks much now but at the time, it was worn frequently. The mask was very comfortable and affordable, and I always got compliments, because of its unique design. I look forward to buying clothing and more merchandise from Tesoros Maya.
I love this shop! It’s full of magical things & everything is so unique. The fact that it isn’t mass produced and is made lovingly by hand, is such a great feeling.
This is a spectacular, authentic Huipil from Chajul, Quiche Guatemala.
Pre-loved top and hand-woven on a back-strap loom with 100% cotton in a Turquoise base. Please note that this top is a lot heavier than our traditional Chajul tops that are super soft and light. This top is 100% cotton.
This stunning Huipil has a woven-embroidered design of Mayan birds in the front and back. Great piece to add to your ethical wardrobe!
Please review measurements below to ensure proper fit. All sales are final.
Measurements on flat surface:
This Huipil will fit a Small to MEDIUM frame
Bust (armpit to armpit): 23” inches wide
Length: 20”- 21” inches long
Arm Opening:8" inches
Neck Opening: The opening of the neck has been tailored opened for a more comfortable fit.
This Huipil is closed at the sides
Condition: Generally good vintage condition with a some loose threads and wear. The bottom part has some loose threads but does not affect the structure of the blouse. Also, please note that the bottom parts are uneven. The Mayan woman wear these shirts underneath a skirt so the bottoms are never seen. This blouses has lived a previous life and therefore shows some signs of age and loose thread but has no holes or repairs and is in remarkably good condition. Also note that after many washes, there are some spots that came through the photos but not really visible in person.
This vintage Huipil was personally purchased by Angelica, founder of Tesoros Maya from Juana. This Huipil was ethically sourced and the artisan was paid fair price.
Please note: The entire piece is genuine hand woven and hand embroidered. Many Huipiles are now embroidered using sewing machine which can also be referred to as 'hand made'. This piece is made entirely without the use of machine.
CARE:
This Huipil was 100% handmade from beginning to end; therefore naturally there will be some imperfections. You could see some loose threads, DO NOT pull just snip with scissors.
