This is a spectacular, authentic Huipil is from the Maya village of Chajul, Quiche Guatemala.
Pre-loved, and hand-woven on a back-strap loom with "Aleman" cotton in a Forest Green base. Please note that this top is a lot heavier than our traditional Chajul tops that are super soft and light. This top is 100% cotton.
This stunning top has a woven-embroidered design of double-headed eagles in the front and back. The double headed eagle in Maya mythology represents the Great God with two faces, one looking to good and the other to evil, or to heaven and earth. It is a common figure of protection in the Mayan culture. Great piece to add to your wardrobe or use as an art-wall hanging.
