This is a spectacular, authentic Huipil from Chajul, Quiche Guatemala.

This pre-loved top was hand-woven on a back-strap loom with "Aleman" cotton in a Banana Yellow base. Please note that this top is a lot heavier than our traditional Chajul tops that are super soft and light. This top is 100% cotton yet silky soft.

Iconography: This stunning top has a woven-embroidered design of various Mayan Peacocks. The Guatemalan people see peacocks as a sign of spirituality. Their noble nature and musical colors will hold special meaning to someone who is in tune with their inner spirit or searching for peace within themselves. Great piece to add to your ethical wardrobe or use as an art-wall hanging!

*Please review measurements below to ensure proper fit. All sales are final.

  • Length: 19"-21" inches long- please note that the front part is shorter than the back.
  • Neck Opening: The opening of the neck has been tailored opened for a more comfortable fit.

  • This vintage Huipil was personally purchased by Angelica, founder of Tesoros Maya. This Huipil was ethically sourced and the artisan was paid fair price.

CARE:

  • This Huipil was 100% handmade from beginning to end; therefore naturally there will be some imperfections. You could see some loose threads, DO NOT pull just snip with scissors. Or you can use BLOUSE SNAG REPAIR NEEDLE to repair weaving stiches.
  • For a better care, we recommend hand wash
  • Dry flat
