Vintage Rebozo - XELA Mayan Wrap

$89.00 $125.00

Our Vintage Rainbow Rebozos are our favorite! This unique wrap features traditional Mayan embroidery and ikat hand-dying techniques from the famous city of "Xela" Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.

Xela is its much shorter nickname, derived from the old Mayan name for the city, Xelaju. It's pronounced “sheh-la”.

This beautiful handwoven, naturally dyed and eco-friendly throw is the best ethical gift one could receive!  Traditionally, "perrajes" (shawls) from Maya villages are rather short, meant for covering shoulders but can also be used folded and worn as a head covering in church, during childbirth, or even as a practical wrapping cloth for carrying items around town. It feels as if no woman leaves the home without a perraje. Ornamental and practical, the best of both worlds.

This stunning throw would be great to keep you warm on chilly summer nights, use at the beach or pool as a throw, or use as a table runner or a throw to add an ethnic look to your home!
