This lovely organic cotton, silky-to-the-touch blouse was woven exclusively for Tesoros Maya by Anita and Maria, both sisters that belong to a family of masters weavers in the lakeside village of San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala.
San Juan La Laguna on Lake Atitlan is the most innovative weaving communities in the highlands of Guatemala. Primarily threads are spun with organic cotton and dyed with natural pants; herbs and dyes. These colorful blouses were all woven on back-strap loom.
Process: The "Ikat" design is process that begins by tying knots onto warped threads, which are then plunged into natural dye baths. When the threads have been dyed and dried, the knots are removed revealing the designs, then the threads can be woven into this textile.
Female artisans use locally sourced plants and herbs to create dye baths that they apply to cotton threads. They use a banana tree trunk solution to fix the color and help stabilize the dye, ensuring the color will never run. The entire piece is genuine hand woven masterpiece.

Thank you for such a high-quality handmade huipil! Feels like a personal treasure in this world of corporate/factory made products.
I love the hoodie. It is soft and the embroidery is wonderful. This is my second order from Tesoros Maya. Both times I experienced an unusual attention to detail. When the packages arrived, they were like gifts. There were hand written notes and surprises. I will definitely order again.
The pictures on the website do not do this product justice. In person the hair wrap has so many beautiful details. The colors are vibrant and it is long enough for those with long, medium or short hair. Simple instructions are provided but I am excited to learn the different ways to use it in my hair. I have already been inspired to wear this as a necklace and belt. I can't wait to get more!
Loved it. Wish there was another choice w brighter colors but this one is great.
Very well made. Cute idea
