This gorgeous mesh Huipil top, hand embroidered is from the Cobán Alta Verapaz region of Guatemala.
Coban's Huipil' s often are hand-embroidered with rows of small design geometric and floral elements in a variety of colors around the neck and arm openings. The traditional cloth was hand-woven open and sometimes referred to as "gauze-like" fabric.
Lightweight and airy, this blouse is the perfect for spring, summer and fall. Featuring flowers embroidered by hand around the neckline, the base is a beautiful Turquoise manta cloth (cotton blend).
This particular Huipil is a ‘poncho’ style blouse. This square huipil has not been sewn up on either side, making it ideal to wear over a tank top.
